Did you know that PFTCE is the oldest Union west of the Mississippi to be chartered by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT)? At the time of our charter, we were named the “Portland Teacher’s Union #111″. Our original charter document, which still hangs in our office, is signed and dated September 17th, 1919! Congratulations on nine decades of great education-based Unionism, Local 111!
